Yoga Baby is a weekly web tv show for new mothers and their children. Produced weekly from Northern Norway, the show is hosted by myself (Jill Forrest), Miller Espen Forrest (1) and Heidi Ane Forrest (2).
I am a qualified yoga instructor and arts educator and have been practicing yoga since I was a teenager. I kept up my yoga practice through my first pregnancy upto the day I gave birth to Heidi and it was such a positive activity for me, allowing my body to adjust well to the changes and allowing my mind time to prepare for a new lifestyle. After having Heidi I was back to basic poses within a few weeks (basic stretches I began just a day after the birth) and was back to gentle teaching, with classes for mums and babies just 6 weeks later. My second pregnancy was different as I had hip problems from the 4th month so yoga became difficult, however, the breathing and relaxation poses were a lifeline for me as it was a stressful time. This time yoga came to the rescue during the birth as Miller was in a awkward position and nothing was happening during active labour. Not quite knowing how I did it I moved into the cat pose and back and that did it, soon after, Miller arrive so I guess you could say he was a yoga baby from the outset.
We started the show to share our positive experiences of yoga with other mums. With no budget and no equipment other than a borrowed film camera, Yoga Baby made its first nervous outing into the world of web television, or vlogging, or video podcasting, whichever term you prefer!
The show is, and will continue to be free to viewers and although we began the show with just two of us, myself and Miller, Heidi has always enjoyed yoga practice and now the shows location has changed from our arts studio to our home, it seems appropriate for Heidi to join us on the show.
